Focus on swimming - Entry for September 1, 2008

Picture - me finishing the Lake Placid swim course, already in a downpouring rain.
Well, it's about 6 weeks since Lake Placid. Unbelievably. Lots has happened and not too much at the same time, if that is a possible oximoronic situation. My Plantar Faciaitis (sp?) which was bugging me before LP, and then miraculously disappeared for several weeks afterwards has unfortunately returned. I bagged the thought of FirmMan in Narragansett, figuring I'll give the foot a rest and give my family some much needed attention.
For the next 12 months I plan on focusing on shorter races. Particularly the Olympic as the main focus, but some sprinting as well. I also am going to work on swimming as a focus. I've always just swam for the sake of Triathlon, though I do compete in some annual events. This year I'm going to actually try to really focus on improving times and getting better speed, which should help with the shorter races, as the swim becomes a more critical component.
That's it for now. more soon. All, go to Narragansett Beach on Sept. 7th and support Triathlon, or, better still, volunteer to help out. I am going to be setting buoys and will be in the finish chute doing something or other....
Later,
MW
